Rules of the road

There is a common misunderstanding among non sailors that sail has priority over steam (or powered boats). There is actually quite a comprehensive set of rules about who has 'Right of Way' or in sailing parlance who is Stand on vessel (right of way) and who is Give Way Vessel. All very interesting. Bottom line is that we have a 10 ton boat and the Oil Tanker weighs thousands of tons, is 1000 ft long and basically wouldn't even notice if they ran us down. We just get out of their way :)
I mean, I couldn't even get the whole ship in the picture !!!
Impressive to see these guys up close !
